Pondus – Limited Edition Magnetic Checker Chess, designed by Rob McCarthy BA(Hons) Dip Arch ARB, Pondus is a geometric interpretation of the universe and the wonders of space, with depictions of galaxies, black holes, planets & moons in a muted palette of tonal & contrasting colours. When not designing sky pools for the London skyline, Rob enjoys painting & playing chess.‍ A limited edition of 25, created from the artists original artwork.

The chess board measures 45cm x 45cm x 4cm and has a metallic layer inserted beneath the surface, and is digitally printed, hand-painted, lacquered and polished to deliver a wonderful lustre. The machine turned & hand carved Boxwood chess/checker pieces measure 4.2cm in diameter and contain magnetic inserts and are hand-painted, printed and completed with Italian Nappa leather base felts, with the Purling logo embossed in 18 carat gold. Affixed to the reverse of the board is a sub frame, allowing the piece to be displayed for play on a table-top or hung upon a wall to create the most dramatic and conversational art piece and game. Pondus is sure to challenge & delight all chess enthusiasts and art lovers alike - encouraging vivid conversation whilst tempting passers-by to make a move. Presented in Purling branded packaging.
