Pondus - magnetic and bold pieces

Limited Edition Magnetic Chess/Checkers set - Pondus is a stunning creation on the traditional game. The Birch ply board measures 45cm x 45cm x 1cm and beneath the surface of each playing square, sits a precision cut high-strength magnet. The playing board design - recreated from an original artwork of the same name is digitally printed, hand-painted and receives several layers of lacquer and hand-polishing to produce wonderfully high clarity and a soft glimmering sheen. The reverse of the board features a painted base frame approx 3cm, enabling the game to be played traditionally on a table or desk top and/or hung on a wall to create the most amazing and conversational 3D art piece. The hardwood hand-carved chess pieces are from Purling 's Bold series, featuring our unique Knight design, with each piece receiving, two layers of base-coat primer, two layers of high-gloss paint and two layers of crystal-clear lacquer. Triple weighted and completed with an Italian Napa leather base felt with the Purling logo embossed in 18 carat gold, to give a satisfyingly confident and desirable hand-feel. The chess/checkers pieces - carved from Boxwood, feature metal insets and are painted, digitally printed and lacquered, completed with Purling logo Napa leather base felt.
